School Board commitments as part of the salary schedule improvements

The Garfield Re-2 School Board had a conversation at their first meeting in September about the salary schedules that they would like to implement if additional revenue is found. They answered a couple of questions about those salary schedules.

The school board has committed to revisiting those 52 educators in the "ghost area" of the certified staff salary schedule (the white blocks underneath the steps and lanes). Their commitment was that should Garfield Re-2 be able to implement the new certified staff salary schedules, those people in the ghost area will not be harmed. They have asked the District's negotiating arm, Collaborative Solutions, for a proposed solution to the issue.

As a point of clarification, they reminded people that the Superintendent's salary is NOT impacted by the salary schedule adjustments. He is on contract that is directly negotiated with the school board.

Who are your Collaborative Solutions representatives?

Collaborative Solutions Meets on October 5th

Collaborative Solutions will begin its work for this school year on Friday, October 5th. Collaborative Solutions is the interest-based negotiating body for Garfield Re-2 who focuses on wages, benefits, working conditions, personnel policies, and staff relationships. Membership includes 8 certified staff, 8 classified staff, and 7 administrators.

On Friday, Dave Mussetter from the Colorado Education Association will train membership on the interest-based negotiations process. Membership will also address the “ghost cells” in the proposed certified salary schedule, as requested by the Board of Education.
