Haiti Ministry
Dear St. Louis Catholic School Families,
Thank you to everyone who donated items for our Haiti Ministry’s Christmas celebration last year. We exceeded our goal of sending 400 children a T-Shirt, coloring book, crayons, and a toy. Father Voltaire was not expecting these items and was very touched that we did this for him and the children. Many of you at St. Louis Catholic School supported this effort and we are truly grateful.
This year, we would like to collect school supplies for the 400 children. These will be shipped down next spring and given out next October when school starts. Here is how you can help:
1. Bring one or a few of the items listed below to School and place in the collection box in the front office.
For each child we would like to collect:
Backpack (gently used is ok)
Pencils
Colored pencils
Small pencil sharpener
Pens
Notebooks
Ruler
2. Don’t have time to shop???? Cash donations are always appreciated. Many of these items can be purchased cheaper in bulk, so if you would like to donate money instead of supplies, checks can be made out to St Louis Church Haiti Ministry and brought to Back to School Night on August 8 or mailed to 13 East St. Louis Place Batesville, IN 47006. Put School Supplies in the memo section of your check.
We are grateful for any and all help. Please contact Jenny Geers atjengeers@nalu.net with questions about the donations.
In Christ,
The St. Louis Haiti Ministry Team

Thank you for all that were able to attend Back to School Night on Monday. It was good seeing everyone. If you ever need anything from me this year, please don't hesitate to call.
Hope
If you watched the news any time this summer you saw terrorism, destruction, and chaos. With everything that's been going on in the world, it can be difficult for people to remain hopeful about the future. This seems to be a natural reaction, but definitely not a feeling we want for our children.
As parents I believe we want our children to grow up as adults who are hope-filled, always knowing that God will take care of us. A recent study shows that Catholic schools are providing exactly this. It showed that adults who attended Catholic schools are consistently and substantially more hopeful than those who did not.
As we start the new year, I thought you would like to know of a little known benefit of Catholic schools that will positively affect your children for the rest of their lives.
