Summer Academic Prep

Royal High School - SVUSD

Preparing for the 21-22 School Year...

Some of our advanced level academic courses/instructors offer important preparation work to be completed over the summer. Not every course provides summer prep work. Only those courses that submitted summer work are listed here. If you have questions about an AP, IB, or Honors level course and do not see it on this document, please email your future teacher.

This work is intended to help students in certain courses get what is essentially a running start and practice with the challenging course work of the fall. This, more than anything, is meant to help support students, and the teachers of these courses are available for information and guidance.

"The summer assignment for all AP or IB Psychology students is to relax, recharge and be kind to themselves and others. Watch a movie, read a book or some articles, meditate, take a walk and smile. See you in August." - Mr. Tauber

1. There is NO SUMMER ASSIGNMENT

2. You will need a graphing/statistical calculator for the course - it is an absolute must and it is difficult to do the class without one. The calculator of choice is the Texas Instruments TI-83 or TI-84. The TI-83 costs less and does almost everything the TI-84 does. The 84 model is definitely more user friendly. It's up to you what you want to go with. If you already have a TI-89, that will work too. Any other models or brands of calculators are NOT recommended as I do not use them.

3. Please speak with me if you have any reservations about the class including the calculator. I have had a very good track record helping students pass the AP Test. If you trust me I will help you reach your full potential.

4. I am telling you about the calculator now as it is an expense to add to your other Fall school expenses. We will begin using this calculator the first week of school.

It is highly recommended to start looking soon to save yourself some money. Below are links to Amazon for both calculators I mentioned. You should also check Ebay and sales at Walmart, Target, Staples, Office Depot, etc...

Check with friends or family who have taken a higher level math class they may let you use theirs or buy it cheap. You can find them used also.
