Teeland Middle School
January 2022
Letter from the Principal
1/01/2022
To Our Teeland Families:
Happy New Year!
As the second semester of this year begins, we are continuing to work together in our efforts to increase student attendance, reduce learning gaps and, most importantly, stay healthy. Many of our students are very involved and committed to learning. The staff at TMS appreciate teaming with families as we work together to STRIVE towards excellence.
Semester one report cards will be posted on ParentVue on Friday, January 7th. Please reach out to your student’s counselor, or teachers, if you have concerns or questions about your student’s progress. We do have a significant number of students that are not attending school regularly for various reasons. We want to emphasize the importance of consistent attendance, even with our teachers using Google Classroom to post assignments. Students that miss school can make up a majority of the work, but by not receiving direct instruction from a teacher and missing out on in-class opportunities, their quality of instruction will be negatively impacted. Please support your student in meeting the expectation of being in school, on time, every day, except when they are ill or have to stay home due to being a close contact.
We have found a wrestling coach and that season will start on January 4th, instead of January 3rd. Volleyball and Junior NYO will also be starting after the break on January 3rd. Your student athlete will need a sports physical and be registered in Planet HS in order to start on the first day of practice. Being involved in activities is one of the most important choices families can make to support their students in building positive connections with their peers and being a part of a team.
Many of our students were recognized last semester for their efforts academically with Honor Roll certificates and treats. We also had hundreds of STRIVE cards submitted for students showing service, tolerance, responsibility, integrity, vision, or effort. In addition, many students participated in extracurricular activities on teams that excelled in their competitions. These are just a few examples of how your students continue to exceed our expectations.
Your children are amazing and appreciated! Thank you for your support and know that we enjoy seeing your kids every day in school!

Safety reminder:
Please make sure your student gets out of your vehicle on the curbside vs. in the street when dropping them off. We are seeing an increase of vehicles driving at a higher speed than necessary while passing vehicles parked along the drop off.
