PBL Idea:
Spring time brings more than just nice weather, green trees, and healthy gardens. The season also provides the perfect excuse to get together and have fun. Just this past weekend, thousands of people attended Jazz Fest in New Orleans, and thousands more went to the Tribeca Film Festival in New York. Of course, most people will wait to attend whatever celebration is being planned in their hometown, whether it's the "Peach Festival" or "Artisphere" or the "Azalea Parade"... you get the idea.
Those local gatherings are the inspiration for this week's exercise. Students are going to plan a festival for their own hometown... something that highlights the history, people, or economy of the area. They must decide on the theme, along with the entertainment and other attractions that will be offered. Then, they will decide on the best way to get the word out to their target audience (families, community members, tourists, etc.).
