Black History Month Doors
Activities to help celebrate and educate during Black History Month have included daily trivia, a service learning drive to help others, Black Excellence Week, and an upcoming assembly. Homeroom classes have been participating in door decorating contests - this is one example of many!
Setsubun Festival
Thank you to the Japanese Consulate General of Atlanta's Cultural Affairs team for a lesson on the Japanese celebration, #Setsubun (Bean Throwing Festival). We were joined by Dr. Michelle Morancie (Fulton County School Board District 7) for the festivities. Our 6th , 7th and 8th grade Japanese language students created ogre masks and practiced throwing beans at the "demon" represented by our own Panther mascot.
PE Core Fitness
Students in PE this past week did a series of core strength and fitness stations. They started in 16 teams, and one individual per team moved to the floor to do the exercise, and then passed it off to the next team member to allow active recovery time. They did sprints, “Frankenstein reaches,” jogs, core ball balances, pushups, and more.

212 Degree Award Winners for January
To celebrate the IB traits our staff exemplify and to highlight those who have gone the 1 extra degree, we give monthly 212 Degree Awards. It is built on the premise that at 211 degrees, water doesn't boil. With just one extra degree, it boils. We're thankful for 5 staff members each month who will be highlighted for giving that 1 extra degree to our school.

Annual FCS Parent Perception Survey
Please help Ridgeview get feedback by taking the Annual Parent Perception Survey between February 13 and March 10. Responses to the survey will help the district make improvements to our schools, and will provide important data for the development of our new strategic plan. The survey is anonymous and should take about 10 minutes to complete. Parents are asked to complete one survey per school where they have one or more students enrolled. Additionally, students in grades 4-12 will take the Annual Student Perception Survey between February 13 and February 24 during the school day. This survey is also anonymous and confidential.
RCMS Wants SGC Candidates
The window for parents and teachers to declare candidacy for their school’s School Governance Council (SGC) opened on February 1, 2023. During this time, individuals interested in serving a 2-year term (July 1, 2023 – June 30, 2025) will need to complete a Candidate Declaration Form which will be available on the Charter System Website. The declaration window will close on March 24, 2023. Interested parents and teachers can click here to access requirements for candidacy. Voting will take place in late March with additional information to come about the process soon. See the SY2023 SGC Elections Guide for more information and council resources related to SGC Elections. The Governance Team is currently working to develop additional elections materials for schools including posters, handouts, lawn signs, etc. These materials will be sent out near the end of the month and should arrive at schools in early February for your teams to use to promote elections.
