Council Leader Update

September 2015

First council report is due September 22, 2015

Each Council is required to complete three reports during the course of the year. The due date for your first report is September 22, 2015. Please complete and either mail it to the state office or email it to with a copy going to your District Director. You can download the report form from the Council Only section of the Georgia PTA website.

Statistical Report

You will receive a Statistical Report each month from Georgia PTA – generally around the 5th. This shows the status of each of your council’s LUs with respect to: dues paid, membership this year; 990 submitted, etc. Send a copy of this report to all of your board members and committee chairs. Ask them to follow up on any schools that they are connected with where there is a deficiency. If you have a liaison program (each board member is assigned schools in which they are their personal liaison to the Council) that is a great way to develop a rapport with the schools.

Reporting Council Dues as Paid

On a monthly basis, please have your Council Treasurer send an email to Shiree Lynch at the state office ( indicating which of your local units has PAID their Council dues. Paying Council dues is a requirement to be in good standing with Georgia PTA, however, we need the Councils to let us know which local units have made that payment.

Common Core Training Incentive

In an effort to continue our training on Common Core initiatives, Georgia PTA is offering incentives to Districts, Councils, Local Units and Legislative Chairs. Earn $100 for your Council by hosting a Common Core training at a council meeting by October 31, 2015.

All presentations must be presented by an approved and trained Common Core presenter by Georgia PTA. Contact Dr. Detrius Jones for more information and to schedule a presentation – or 404-202-1373.

All presentations must be concluded by October 31, 2015 to qualify for the financial incentive.

Online Trainings

Georgia PTA is happy to offer online training opportunities for those PTA leaders who were not able to attend CLT, a council training or a PTA University. These trainings can be viewed from the comfort of their own home! If you have local unit leaders who you know have not yet attended training, we recommend that you share with them this training opportunity. They can go to and watch the training videos for President, Secretary, Treasurer, Membership, Developing Your Communications Plan, Report Writing and Breakfast in the Classroom.
