MCCHS FRIDAY FOCUS

Pilgrims on the Way of Truth
School's Out for SUMMER!
We began this week with one more State Send-Off parade for Zach Taylor (competing in the Long Jump for Track and Field) and Ian Brzeski and Mike Dowling (competing in Boys Tennis). We are eager to find out how they all do at their competitions! We also are very proud of Eve Meintz, who placed 2nd in the 2A IHSA State Track and Field High Jump!
Last night at our Baccalaureate Mass, Monsignor Hermes made the beautiful analogy that the students were rockets - and our school and homes have provided that sturdy, safe launching pad. When he mentioned that the rocket was ready to severe those last ties to reach for the stars, it really hit home for many of us. Fr. Doyle, too, came to celebrate with our graduating class, delivering a heartfelt homily. May 24th was actually his ordination anniversary as well, and he shared with the graduates lessons he had learned during his time ministering to others. It really helped us all reflect on why we should be so determined to strengthen our faith in God as we face the world.
Finally - tonight - we "launch" our graduates. As parents, friends, family, and faculty unite to surround these young men and women - we pray that all this preparation has made them strong and courageous and confident. We hope they continue to embrace their faith, and always welcome God into their hearts and lives.
We hope, through the coming years, they look back and stand taller knowing that they always will be MC.

Used Book Sale Event - May 31st!
The 18-19 Book List was mailed with the Book Buy-Back list to all families, but please note that we have made TWO additions to the list since that mailing: the first involves Accounting 2, the second is the added Micro-economics class.
Not everything listed on this book list will be available at the Used Book Sale. Our 2018-2019 Online Bookstore (managed by MBS Direct) will be open on July 2, 2018 and we will run special offers (free shipping, etc.) shortly after that! The ADVANTAGE to ordering through MBS is two-fold: first, the company offers guaranteed buy-back and second, a % of all sales through MBS is DONATED BACK TO MARIAN which is then added to our tuition assistance program!
You'll notice that we've added a note if an eBook version is available. As we transition to our 1:1 program, we feel it's important to offer as many opportunities to utilize digital books as possible. It is entirely your student's preference! You will notice, however, that there can be a significant cost savings with the eBook version - so we hope that this gives our families more choice! Our instructors welcome a blend of print and eBook - and these eBooks will work on multiple platforms!
We will have this Book List copied and available to you at the Used Book Sale! Just remember to bring your student's course list with you so you know which classes to shop for!
Used Uniform Endowment Event - May 31st!
If you wish to exchange sizes or donate (without exchange), we can certainly help you with that as well! Please bring your outgrown items (washed, folded) and we will be happy to add them to the offerings for other families! We just ask that no items be ripped or stained.
PLEASE BRING YOUR OWN BAGS!
