MAP testing will be happening toward the end of April. We are currently scheduled to begin the week of April 26. This impacts only grades 3-5.
A quick reminder that we have Flexible Instruction Time (FIT) on Wednesdays. Our K-5th grade students dismiss at 1:40 pm. Teachers provide learning activities for students to complete during this time. FIT is scheduled for every Wednesday through the remainder of the school year.
Throughout the month of February, we have been celebrating Black History Month by focusing on educating ourselves about black and brown leaders – past and present. Staff members have shared stories and facts about people they admire and consider heroes during the morning announcements each day. Some of our community leaders have shared videos with us to discuss the importance of Black history. Many of our bulletin boards have been decorated with Black history themes, and students have been working on projects that were created around Black history. Since we are unable to invite guests into our building at the moment, we have shared some photos below so that you can enjoy some of the work our students have done. We strive to emphasize inclusion and equity and respect for all. And as our country grows, we all continue to learn more about human equality. These student projects and the celebrations of Black heroes on our morning announcements have been uplifting. We hope you enjoy getting a small glimpse of what has been happening here at Winnwood during Black History Month.
