I Make a Difference!
The "I Make a Difference Award" is going to Azul Emede! She is a wonderful addition to our "nest." She always has a smile on her face and a positive attitude. Her students thrive off of her optimism and excitement for learning. She forms strong relationships with her students and constantly brags on them and their accomplishments! With a fast paced curriculum, she is putting in countless hours translating and creating activities for her students. We are so lucky to have you here!
Live United
To Our Terrific Trantwood Team!
I am looking forward to coordinating some fun here in the building and supporting you with your decision regarding the United Way Campaign. This is the link to the online portal:
I will be happy to walk you through it. I completed it in about 10 minutes. With my help it will take you only 5 minutes! (The tricky part was finding the charities I wanted.) Come to my room any afternoon. I’m here until at least 3:30 every day.
We can accept cash or checks; however, checks should be made payable to: “United Way SHR.”

R.E.D. DAY- REMEMBER EVERYONE DEPLOYED FOR MILITARY FAMILY APPRECIATION MONTH - NOVEMBER 8TH
Virginia Beach City Public Schools (VBCPS) joins the Department of Defense, the Department of Defense Education Activity and the military community in celebrating November as Military Family Appreciation Month. We know behind our brave service men and women are our military-children who serve each day alongside their loved ones. Through deployments, reintegration and frequent relocations, our military families are essential to protecting our nation’s freedom.
On Friday, Nov. 8, the Office of Student Support Services is inviting everyone throughout VBCPS to participate in R.E.D. Day - Remember Everyone Deployed by wearing red on Friday, Nov. 8. By wearing red on Nov. 8, VBCPS will demonstrate support of military families by spreading the message that we recognize and appreciate their service, not just throughout Military Family Appreciation Month, but every day of the year.
R.E.D. Day is a division-wide activity aligned to the Virginia Department of Education’s Purple Star Designation. It is recommended schools who celebrate R.E.D. Day take pictures or document participation for Purple Star Designation.
REPORT CARD COMMENTS
Struggling to put student strengths into words? Try noticing your learners through the Habits of Mind lens. Does the student listen with understanding and empathy or do they think flexibly or strive for accuracy? Writing comments using the Habits of Mind lens helps a learner gain a positive sense of self and causes parents to have confidence you know and care about their child.
As a reminder, if meeting with parents for a Parent Teacher conference prior to the report card being sent home, it is acceptable to write "Thank you for meeting with me recently to discuss your child's progress."
Welcome to the nest, Yolande Sewarde, our new Perm Sub!
First grade Scientists making very scientific observations.
Trantwood's Cranes made it to the Hiroshima Memorial Peace Park!
This young man, with a little help from mom, knew just how to make Mrs. Drury's last day memorable!
Even though his family was not able to come to school, Mrs. Tetsis made him feel right at home sharing his family tree with the class.
Oh yea! We love showing off our Day of the Dead masks!
Friday only gets better with pizza! Thanks SCA!
