McDill Elementary Parent Newsletter
December 2022
Hello Timberwolf Families,
I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving Holiday! I am very thankful to get to work with all of the students, staff and families of our school community.
I wanted to say a big thank you to our McDill PTO whose support provides so many great opportunities throughout the school year. The fundraising efforts are a big undertaking, along with the planning and/or organizing of amazing events and activities. It is very generous of the members to volunteer their time and energy to help our school and we hope they know how much it is appreciated. Monthly meetings are held throughout the school year for anyone interested in getting involved as more volunteers are always welcomed. The next PTO Meeting will be held on Monday, January 16th at 6:30 pm.
The month of December can be an exciting time as we approach the holiday season. This time of year also brings snow and cold temperatures. Please make sure your students are coming to school prepared to spend their recess time outside. We strongly encourage all students to bring “The Big 5” - hat, gloves, jacket, snow pants and boots - to school each and every day. Students will go outside unless the temperature drops below zero with the wind chill. It is best to bundle up when waiting for the bus or even if getting dropped off in the morning, as students are outside until the first bell rings.
In addition to the field trips listed below, we are excited to once again hold a McDill Winter Concert next Friday, December 9th! We look forward to seeing many of our families in the building for this performance by our 3rd-6th grade students! Please see the concert day reminders linked below in regard to parking and student dismissal. (For our new families, know that the KN-2nd grade students will have their chance to perform for us all in the spring.)
Have a wonderful holiday season and winter break!
Joe Sbertoli, Principal

WINTER WEAR EXPECTATIONS for all students.
As mentioned above, students will be outside every day unless the temperatures fall below zero (with the wind chill taken into account). Even though snow pants are not technically required when snow is not present on the ground, it is still strongly recommended to send them along for warmth. Our Kindergarten students are outside for a little over 30 minutes every day and an extra layer over their legs could help keep them from getting too cold.
