Panther Post
October 16th - October 21st
Hello Lopez Families,
This coming Friday we are having our annual Pantherama fall festival. This is a great event put on by our wonderful PTA. There will be all kinds of games and activities as well as food and drinks for purchase, including some very good food trucks. The event is from 4-7pm and there will be a dance after (flier below). All this week in the lunches, we will be selling the wristbands that will get them into the event. They are $10 and get you into 12 different attractions as many times as you want. They can even purchase strips of duct tape to tape me to the wall. Why I agreed to that, I don't know...
I also want to thank out PTA for the incredible luncheon they provided our teachers Friday. The food was so good! It was a great treat after a long week. Picture below.
Last week one of our great parents, Dawn Baros, sent me a picture of her daughter Britta. She will be coming to Lopez next year as student, but is here each week to cheer on her big brother Clint when he plays football. Dawn said our officer, David Villarreal, is always there making people feel welcome and has gotten to know Britta, as she is always there shooting the breeze with him. Picture below. Thank you Officer Villarreal!
Have a wonderful week!
Sincerely,
Mr. Wernli

Leader In Me
Habit 3 - Put First Things First means to decide what is most important and to take care of that first. Thinking about what needs to be done tomorrow or by the end of the week can be overwhelming, especially for teens. Teens are busier today and working harder than ever. Between school, extracurricular activities, teams, clubs it seems they barely have time to sleep. Habit 3, PUT FIRST THINGS FIRST, can help. It’s all about learning to prioritize and manage your time so that your firsts things come first, not last. It is important to put the most essential things first and to schedule your time wisely. Evaluate the importance of each activity in the context of your goals, and give time to the important while eliminating distractions whenever possible ( ie, cell phones, gaming etc) . The challenge is not to manage time, but to manage OURSELVES.
Use your Lopez planner or a sheet of paper, google calendar, notes on your phone, physically write out the things that need to be done for the day and week.
