Reopening Updates and Parent/Caregiver Meetings
All K-8 students who opted for in-person learning are scheduled to return to the building on either Monday 2/1/21 if they are assigned to the Monday/Tuesday shift, or on Thursday 2/4/21 if they are assigned to the Thursday/Friday shift. Teachers have been hosting family meetings to explain what the hybrid and learn at home models will look like for their classroom. If you are unable to attend the meeting with your child’s teacher, and/or you would like to attend a general K-8 meeting with Boone administration, note that we will host a school-wide meeting on 1/28/21 at 3:30PM. Please click here to request a link to this virtual meeting.
If your student(s) are returning for in-person learning, you will receive an email this week to confirm if your student(s) should attend on Mondays/Tuesdays or Thursdays/Fridays. If you have not received this email by Thursday 1/28/21, please call the main office at 773-534-2160 or email Assistant Principal Jose Moreno at jmoreno@cps.edu.
Required Health Screener for Hybrid In-Person Students
Boone's website (boone.cps.edu) has added a new page under the Community tab called "How to use the CPS Health Screener." This page contains videos (in English, Spanish, Arabic, and Urdu) on how to access the health screener site and how to fill it out. Please note that parents and caregivers must complete the CPS Health Screener EVERY SCHOOL DAY BETWEEN 5AM-8:15AM. Students will not be permitted in the building before the screener is completed every day. If you complete it the night before, the data will erase by the next morning and you will have to do it again.
We are advising everyone who has students returning in person next week to watch the video How to use the CPS Health Screener. and/or practice completing the screener so you know what to expect when students return.
Changes to Remote Learning Schedules Begin 2/1/21
Due to the following factors, the majority of the K-8 remote learning schedules will change beginning 2/1/21:
- The required minimum of minutes for synchronous instruction will be reduced to 150 minutes on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday
- The required minimum of minutes for synchronous instruction will be reduced to 180 minutes on Wednesday
- The school-wide common lunch time of 11:30 will no longer be possible due to the in-person lunches needing to be staggered to ensure adequate supervision while teachers take their own lunch breaks
- Teachers will receive additional preparation time on Wednesdays due to needing to plan for both hybrid and remote learning
Each teacher will share the revised remote learning schedule for their students prior to 2/1/21.

Parent Portal
Parent Portal gives parents the ability to view students' grades in real time. If you are setting up your Parent Portal account for the first time, please visit the First Time Parent Portal Set-Up link. This is a one-time step and not necessary after every school year. Once you receive your email from Aspen to help set up your username and password, you can access Parent Portal at Aspen Parent Portal.
If you already have a Parent Portal account, but are running into technical issues (forgot password, locked out, etc), please email Boone's tech coordinator Patrick Chi (ptchi@cps.edu) so he can reset your account. Once your account is reset, you should receive an email from Aspen with further instructions. Additional information provided by the district can be found at this link.
