It brings oxygen to our bodies, which we need for our cells to live and function properly
Structures of the Respiratory System
Nose- Above the mouth on the face of a person or animal
Sinuses-Cavities in the skull, ducts connect them to the nasal cavity
Pharynx-Throat , passage way for food & air
Epiglottis- A flap of cartilage at the roof of the tongue
Larynx-Voice box
Trachea-Windpipe
Lungs- Organs situated within the rib-cage
Pleura- Thin membrane that lines the surface of the lungs and the inside of the chest wall
Mediastinum- partition between two body cavities or two parts of an organ
Vitamin D- prevents respiratory disease in newborns
Vitamin E- prevents common colds
