Patriot Day Celebration
Midland High recognized Patriots’ Day with ceremony at Midland High Flagpole on Tuesday, September 11. The ceremony began at 0800 with the raising of the Stars and Stripes by the MHS AFJROTC Honor Guard to full staff as the Midland High Band played the National Anthem. Upon completion of the National Anthem, the flag was lowered to half-staff as Taps was played. Guest speakers for the ceremony included Federal District Judge David Counts and Mayor Jerry Morales along with the Country Sheriff, Fire Chief, and several police officers representing Midland’s first responders. Dr. Leslie Sparacello closed the ceremony by once again recognizing the importance of the day and thanking the guests for coming.

Tennis Wins over Odessa
The Midland High tennis team opened District 2-6A play on Tuesday with a convincing 15-4 victory over Odessa High at the Midland High tennis courts. Nine of the matches went to a third-set tiebreaker and MHS won six of them. MHS next plays at Odessa Permian at 4 p.m. Sept. 18.

Midland High Softball players will be participating in the high school Fall Ball league starting October 4th. Games are played at M.U.G.S. on Thursday nights.

Fall Choir Concert
Mandatory Rehearsal - Monday, 09.17, 4:30-6p @ Bowie PAC. Students may choose to walk, drive, or ride the 9 blocks north on "A" Street to the venue. The rehearsal will end promptly at 6:00p. Students needing transportation home will need to be picked up AT 6:00 at Bowie PAC - "A" Street parking lot. For your child's safety, thank you in advance for your consideration by arriving EARLY to pick your child up.
Fall Concert - Tuesday, 09.18, students meet at 6:00p @ Bowie PAC dressed and ready to go: choir shirt (tucked in), khakis (pants or skirt - no shorts), closed-toe shoes (no sandals or flip-flops).
The concert will begin at 7:00p.
Varsity Tenor-Bass Choir, Varsity Treble Choir, Combined Mixed Choir, and Varsity Singers will be performing selections from the All-Region literature. The Non-Varsity Treble Choir (MFHS girls) will not perform.
