Our class code is NHF33. Book orders help us build our classroom library and get new titles into the kids' hands! We really appreciate the bonus points from the book orders, and it's a great way to get your kids reading at home.
Spelling
I will pre-test the kids on their Spelling lists on Monday of each week. Depending on the spelling pre-test, they will be assigned a list to study during the week. Students write the list in their planner and also bring home a list for the fridge. I also attach the words to the bottom of this newsletter. My hope is that the kids will practice their spelling at home, as well as read for 20 minutes a night. Next week, I will send home their first piece of math homework. Math homework is optional (but does earn a dojo point!) and helps to get the kids in the routine of receiving and returning weekly homework.
Important Dates Coming Up!
Individual PICTURE DAY is Thursday, September 10th! If you wish to purchase pictures, please make sure to send in the ordering envelope and payment with your child on or before Thursday.
We will be celebrating International Dot Day on September 15th. Check out: http://www.thedotclub.org/dotday/ for more information. Please have your child dress up in polka dots for that day if you can!
