Mrs. Momon's Class
Here's what's happening...
Hard Work
In English Language Arts, we've started to learn about the writing process and have created some really good stories. We've learned which side of the notebook paper the holes are supposed to go on and where we ALWAYS write the name and date. Now, we know how to indent a paragraph and when to change to another paragraph.
The theme in Reading is Friendship, and we've read several stories about friendship. We are learning new vocabulary words. We practice spelling words that go along with the story of the week. Our class has used the dictionary and thesaurus on the computer and actual hard cover books. We've looked at guide words and realized their importance. Now, we are using the Daily 5 to rotate through our reading stations. The class meets with me daily to read and practice fluency and comprehension skills. This is some of our favorite time of the day. We are currently learning social studies, but we will alternate into science very soon. Ask your child about the Magic Wand and Turtle Bell. They are tools we use everyday.
Math skills are going amazingly well. We have some real math masters in our class. So far, we have worked on place value, rounding, number lines, addition and subtraction facts. We are about to begin multi digit addition and subtraction and some elapsed time. We are learning new math vocabulary and journaling about math.
That's a brief synopsis of what is happening in our class. If you have any questions or concerns, contact me on ClassDojo, Remind, email: lori.momon@bartow.k12.ga.us or by phone 770 606-5864.
I love working with your children. We have a great class and enjoy our time together.
