Knowing right from wrong.

Problems With The Church.

There are many things wrong with the Catholic church at the moment. Such as how the church is selling these so called "free ticket to heaven" known as indulgences. When me and you both know that the only way to earn salvation is through faith not through some piece of paper. It's wrong tricking these people into to giving up their money on a lie. Another problem I have with the church is how much power it's given the pope. Now I understand that the pope should have some power over the church but not over the entire Kingdom. Also The church is becoming far too wealthy. There is no reason for the church to have that much money, all the money thats going to the church could surely be used for something more important. Not for building a bigger and better church when the one we have now is perfectly fine.

Just How Much Power Does The Pope Have?

"The pope has neither the will nor the power to remit any penalties beyond those imposed either at his own discretion or by canon law. The pope himself cannot remit guilt, but only declare and confirm that it has been remitted by God; or, at most, he can remit it in cases reserved to his discretion." And here it is the biggest issus I have with the church, why does the pope have so much power over the people. Now don't get me wrong I'm not dissing the pope or his position, but I do believe he is getting a tad out of hand. In the quote above it states that the pope does not have the right to punish people for things done outside of the church. When the pope is the first one to judge anyone. Also I believe that the pope plays favorites, the pope is supposed to be far to everyone but bends the rules continuously for the Kings. I don't think a man of such power should have favorites but should be equally fair to everyone.

Can The Church Be Fixed?

I could say that I may be the only one who feels this way towards the church, but I can guaranteed that I'm not. I think that with a little strengthening of the church rules and the people who run the church I believe the church could become an overall great church. A church that doesn't sale false indulgences, or lets the pope boss everyone around, or a church that preaches false teachings. I hope the church understands were I'm coming from with these statements and takes them into consideration for ways on how to change the church. I do believe with a little work the church can go back to being a place that the people relied on and are proud to be apart of.
