Staying Connected During the Mandatory Closure

Closure Continues Through End of Academic Year
Academically, our goal is to provide activities and lessons which meet state standards. As our teaching staff embraces new online vehicles and methods, students should begin to enjoy lessons presented with nuances of audio and video where appropriate to activity and task. While pdf documents are presented, accompanying supports may include screencasts, video excerpts, or links to websites which more fully buttress learning objectives. Bare in mind, this is new learning for all of us. There is a transition from face to face instruction and the nuances of online delivery, especially when our clientele is aged 5 to 11. We appreciate your patience as we make the switch.
Socially, we value the communication our teachers have with their students. Each day, homeroom teachers offer a message about the day, often interactive. Most classrooms utilize SeeSaw or stay in contact via e-mail. I offer a written and audio daily message in the updates section of Schoology. Our faculty will continue to provide messages like the Hello video we made at the outset of the closure. We're working hard to be present even in a time when doing so is difficult and unnatural.
Lastly, our team is devoted to support the process. Admittedly, there are many questions that remain unanswered, and I've heard from quite a few parents who have kindly advocated for their situation and offered holistic suggestions. I appreciate the guidance. Our staff is open to your need and will address concerns as possible. As in any circumstance, some solutions are quick and simple to implement; others more complex and may take longer to unfold. In this, we seek your patience as we unroll strategies that are helpful.
Thank you. Thank you for your understanding. Thank you for continuing to partner with our teachers. Thank you for addressing needs daily. Thank you for your optimism and hope that will drive the success that awaits us over the next few months. As always, reach out with concerns and celebrations. We are here for each other.
Respectfully,
Dave Purnell, Ed.D.
