A Note from the Principal
Dear SPB Families,
Enclosed in today’s communication folder you will find your child’s MAP Student Progress Report which includes results from the winter testing window. MAP tests measure growth over time, provide information used to target individualized instruction, and are aligned to state standards. This Quick Reference sheet explains different parts of the progress report. Questions about MAP scores can be directed to your child's teacher.
Also in today's communication folders, you will find a Catholic Relief Services (CRS) Rice Bowl. Through CRS Rice Bowl, families learn about how our sisters and brothers across the globe overcome hardships like hunger and malnutrition, and how through Lenten alms, we have the power to make the world a better place for all. Students and families can make small monetary sacrifices that will help those in need around the world and in our own country. Rice bowls can be returned during Holy Week prior to Easter break.
Finally, please read this letter regarding our mask policy moving forward.
Peace and blessings,
Diane Raguz, Principal

2022 Saint Paschal Baylon Science Fair
Completing a science fair project takes a lot of time and hard work. Science fair projects are long-term, cross-curricular projects that require research, technical writing, planning, experimentation, depicting, analyzing, and summarizing results. It is a true test of time management and resilience to see it through and do it well. Congratulations to all of the eighth graders who worked hard through the process for several months to complete their projects.
There were twelve students that participated in our Saint Paschal Baylon Science Fair. A considerable amount of extra time and effort was put into enhancing their projects. They spent time during study halls, after school, and at home to create digital presentations and prepping for possible questions from the judges. All students did very well in the fair! Eight of our students received a “Superior” rating on their projects. Four received an “Excellent” rating.
Nine of these winners have chosen to enter their projects in the Ohio Academy of Science District Science Day competition. Again, they have been spending time after school and at home to prepare for this. Good luck to all!
A big thank you to the judges for this event. Without them, the fair would not have been possible. They each spent their own time reading and evaluating the written projects prior to the fair. Then they met here on a Friday afternoon to listen to the presentations, give advice and finish their evaluations. Their expertise was invaluable in this experience.
Congratulations and amazing work to all of our students! Thank you to Mrs. Hanus for guiding her students through the process and preparing them for the next level of competition!

Playground Volunteers Needed-Grades 3, 2
We are asking that each family (mom, dad, grandma, etc.) choose at least two days to volunteer each time slot being 11:15 am-12:50 pm. There are many, many time slots open! We are so grateful for the help!
This is a great way for you to interact with your child and his/her classmates during the school day! Recess Volunteers should arrive to school at 11:10 and check in at the office. Duties will include supervising students at recess, escorting the students to and from the school doors. Volunteers will be with one school staff member each day to help direct.
Remember that after your two volunteer time slots, you are done for the year, as each month is assigned to a different grade.
COVID-19 Volunteer Protocol: all recess volunteers are required to wear a mask when in the building.
Thank you again for your time and service to the students and teachers of SPB! Simply click on the following links to sign up: Grade 3, Grade 2

Messages from Father Lane...
OTTERBEIN UNIVERSITY CONCERT CHOIR: We have been so fortunate during our church's 50th year and now again to have another music group wish to share their talents in our award-winning and acoustically amazing church. Mark your calendars for Tuesday, March 8, at 6:30 PM for the Otterbein University Concert Choir performance at SPB. This is an excellent opportunity to see and hear the youth sharing their gifts with us all here. THE CONCERT IS FREE! Bring your entire family to enjoy and support our students in the choir.
IGNITE YOUR FAITH PARISH MISSION WITH VINCENTIAN FATHER RONALD HOYE: It is time to make sure our annual parish mission is on your calendar and that you are recruiting others to join us for this exciting event. Fr Hoye CM will be preaching the weekend Masses March 12 & 13 and the 6:30 PM Monday - Wednesday, March 14 - 16 in the church at Saint Paschal Baylon. Want to feel closer to God? An engaging spiritual gathering that weaves story, prayer, and scripture into an enjoyable 45-minute presentation each evening. For anyone who desires a spiritual boost or spark – join us for the 3 evenings you won't forget! All are welcome (especially kids!).
From Saint Louis, MO, Fr Hoye CM is currently the director of Vincentian TeamWorks - a collaborative effort of Catholic Evangelization that includes the ministries of Catholic Home Study and Vincentian Parish Mission. He is a published author and travels throughout the country leading parish missions. Fr Hoye holds degrees in Philosophy, Theology, and Ethics.
SEE YOU SUNDAY @ CHURCH! Our lives are pretty much back to our routines. For many of us, missing one key element - worshiping together as the Body of Christ! As we heard in the scriptures in January from Saint Paul, each part of the Body of Christ is important and all are necessary. Come on home to the Table of the LORD! Worship is a team sport!
