Roger Neilson P.S. Review
Family Edition - Nov. 28th - Dec. 2nd, 2022
Action / Information
Dear Parents/Guardians,
I hope everyone had a great weekend. It's hard to believe that December arrives on Thursday! The weather has been all over the place and our school yard is quite wet and muddy. If your child is able to bring an extra pair of clothes in their backpack in case of "slipping" accidents in our yard, that would be great. We also have a lot of various articles of clothing in our "Lost and Found". Please see the pictures below of some of them. Please have your child retrieve them from the table in the front foyer if you recognize anything.
Holiday Activities for you to attend - Please hold the date of Dec. 22nd from 12-1:30pm. Our staff are working on plans for some class holiday activities and presentations for you to attend at school. More information will be coming out shortly!
Please see the rest of the newsletter below for other important information.
Have a great week,
~Mr. Coulter

Congratulations Jr. Volleyball Players
On Friday November 25th, two teams (Eli, Ryah, Lilly, Lydia, Korey, Zoey, Mona, Ethan, De’Andre, Emma, Leevi, Jackson, Sophie, Ja’Kari, Robert, Savannah, and Jessy) represented our school at the Junior Volleyball tournament at Crestwood. The team did an amazing job supporting and cheering each other on throughout the day. Everyone showed great growth and sportsmanship as they represented Roger Neilson proudly. Well done team!
COVID INFORMATION
A reminder to please continue to visit the provincial screening tool https://covid-19.ontario.ca/school-screening/ for COVID related guidance. To support you with decision making, their is a helpful PDF document below, but also in picture format too below that.
In the event of illness at school, families will be asked to pick up students and keep them home until their symptoms are improving, in accordance with the provincial screening tool. Students who develop symptoms of illness while at school will be distanced from other students as much as possible and asked to wear a mask until they can be picked up. Schools will no longer have separate isolation rooms.
Rapid Antigen Tests will continue to be available at schools and will be provided as needed.
If your child is going to be absent, you can use the "very user-friendly" School Messenger app (a free download), to let us know. You can also call the student absence reporting system at 1-844-434-8119. This number is available 24 hours a day. We meet once a month and there are a variety of roles and tasks that we need support with. Some don’t require much commitment at all. We will also offer a virtual drop in if you can't meet in-person. Cisco WebEx is the platform. If you do not have the use of a computer, a free app can be downloaded to most Smart Phones. To access the meeting, please use this link: https://kprdsb.webex.com/meet/kevin_coulter at 6pm. For parents needing daycare in order to attend a meeting, please let us know in the office and we will see if we can support you with childcare for the hour.
If you have any questions please contact Mr. Coulter. We hope to see you!

We are asking anyone who has any new or like new items they would be willing to donate to please contact Mandy at mandcald@hotmail.com we greatly appreciate all of your continued support. International and Indigenous Languages Elementary (IILE) Program
Click the letter below to learn more.
Please consider supporting "November" Breakfast Club at Roger Neilson!
However, running a school wide program comes with a cost. Thank-you to all families who donated for the month of October! This support means a lot! We are hoping that families would consider donating to our program again for the Month of November if your child is accessing it in the mornings. Look for this opportunity on school cash online. $5 per month, which is roughly 25 cents a day would really help us out.
Thanks for considering!
Ontario's Catch Up Payments!
In case you missed it, the Ontario government has launched "Catch Up Payments" offering parents $200 or $250 per child to help offset costs as they support their children as they catch up. This new initiative commits a total of $365 million in direct financial relief for parents.

Our Parking Lot Before and After School
We recognize that our parking lot is a concern. We sometimes do not have enough spots for our staff. The bus company has also asked that we continue to have room for them to safely enter our parking lot. We kindly ask families to not enter our parking lot with your car as it becomes crowed and unsafe for our school buses. We know this is not ideal, especially in inclement weather, but we thank-you for your support with this!
Before and after school can be very busy with picking up and dropping off students with many little ones around. We have also been asked to remind everyone to watch the language we use during this time around our students. Thank-you!
