3rd Grade Scoop

February 3rd- February 7th


WOW: Perimeter-the distance around a two-dimensional shape.

This week in math we will be exploring perimeter and area as well as two-dimensional and 3-dimentional shapes!

We will also continue working on strategies when reading word problems through our daily math warm up.


This week we will be exploring weathering and erosion. How does different weather around the world compare to our weather?

Vocabulary: weathering, decomposition, and erosion.

Reading and Language Arts

In language arts, we will continue working on Daily Oral Language which is a great spiral review of all language skills!

For writing, learners will continue with their persuasive letters. Ask your learner what they are writing!

In reading, we will review the difference between biographies and autobiographies as well as respond to our independent reading.

Social Studies

In social studies this week, we will continue to study resources. What is a natural resource? What are renewable and non-renewable resources?

Vocabulary: resource, recycle, renewable, solar, scarcity, fossils

What should my learner be doing at home?

Please pick between these resources and complete 3-4 nights a week for practice at home. From our experience, we feel that 30 minutes is an appropriate amount of time for "home fun". Thank you for supporting us with this!
