Principal's Message
Our Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) for January is Health & Well-being. This will undoubtedly help us launch into 2020 by keeping our physical health and mental well-being a priority. Please visit the PUE Global Site for resources and ideas at your PLT creates lessons around this SDG. The Global Committee has asked that as a school we will:
- After several lessons introducing Health and Well-being, all students at PUE will develop a New Year's Resolution around the SDG of Health and Well-being.
- Teachers should display these resolutions creatively in the hallways so it sends a schoolwide message that our focus is on becoming healthier, as a school unit.
- There will also be an opportunity to have students create cards for children in the hospital. Health and well-being is more than just physical. Supporting each other and reaching out in kindness does a lot for our mental well-being!
- Cards should be completed and given to Carolyn Rich no later than January 31. She will be giving them to our parent contact for the children's hospital.
- Finally, each teacher will need to go to the UNICEF kids power ups site and create a class account. It is very similar to Go Noodle as far as providing great brain breaks where your students can get up and exercise. However, as they complete the different activities they can earn power ups points. For every 10 power ups they complete, UNICEF donates a Ready to Use Therapeutic Food (RUTF) packet to a child suffering from malnutrition.
- Visit this site to set up the UNICEF Power Up page for your class.
Below I have linked the awesome flyer shared by Ms. Leavitt on January 3rd all about this SDG.

Professional Development Plan (PDP)
Every teacher should update your PDP no later than January 31. Kiley and Kayla will email staff to set up times to meet.
Please lead your team to go through the pre-linked course list on the global site to get to their Participate Courses.
Midyear PDP requires two courses and two actions.
Report Cards
Please remember that a child's report card grade on a standard should be based on multiple sources of data. Additionally, report card comments should indicate a student's strengths and needs in core content areas. If a student is receiving a 1 or 2 in an area, your report card comment should provide specific information regarding the skills and concepts that require additional support. I will read all report card comments because this helps me to further understand our students as learners.
