Football Games

We are now well into the football season! Students have been working hard to prepare the half time show and stands tunes to entertain the crowds. Our next football game will be a home game on October 2 at 7PM.

What's happening in class?

During class time, we've been working to improve the show music and stands tunes. This past week, students marched around the track while playing to simulate the moving and halting they do while marching the halftime show. We have also started to work on a short rhythm of a day (see below for example from this week). Soon we will begin working on concert music.

Students often have playing or performance tests. Each week, students should be practicing their instrument or flag at home for at least 1-2 hours per week in order to prepare for rehearsals and playing tests.

Upcoming Dates and Reminders

September 8 7:00PM The first band parents meeting of the year will be on September 8th. Meet in the band room.

Note the following rehearsal changes/additions for September:

Tuesday September 8 2-4:30

Tuesday September 15 2-4:30

Friday September 18 3-6 (in the football stadium)

Thursday September 24 2-4:30

Friday September 25 3-6 (in the football stadium)

We will not have marching band rehearsal on days we do not have school.

These changes can also be seen on the September calendar located on the band website.

We need water!

Each rehearsal and football game, the band goes through up to 10 gallons of water in order to keep students hydrated. Please consider donating a few gallons to the band.


Whether have one day to spare or many, any time you can volunteer is greatly appreciated. The band cannot function properly without the help of our volunteers. Opportunities include football games, events that require busing such as band competitions and festivals, band camp and rehearsals, trips, and other events as they arise. If you are interested in becoming a volunteer and have not already signed up, please contact the volunteer committee head, Cindy Conner, at tcconner1@bellsouth.net.
