Lots to be Thankful For!

We are so grateful to be part of such an incredible community! There has been quite a bit happening these past few weeks, and we could not have done everything without the support of our amazing families. From the Fall Festival, to Book Fair, and even feeding the teachers during early release, you all went above and beyond! Thank you to everyone that supported these events by participating and/or donating items, time and talents. You are all a huge part of our school's success!

Falcons Friday Was PAWSitively Amazing!

Students and staff were treated to a surprise pep rally with Freddie the Falcon last Friday! We had so much fun dancing, celebrating and learning about community, and what it means to be a team. Freddie also took time to honor the students with the most PAWS points to date, and gifted them with a Falcons swag bag! He also left us with a few extra swag bags to raffle off to students next month! Students can bid on a bag via the PBIS Rewards App! Parents, have you downloaded the parent app yet? PBIS Rewards Parent is a parents/ guardians portal to the PBIS Rewards system. Parents/Guardians can use the app to see the accomplishments and goals met through the PBIS Rewards program. They are able to keep track of the points earned, and purchases from the school's store as well as upcoming events. For instructions on how to download and access the app, please email your child's teacher.

Annual Book Character Day: Thursday, 10/31

Dyer Elementary is excited to announce the return of Book Character Dress Up Day on Thursday, October 31. On that day, each student is invited to come to school dressed up as a character from a favorite book. Since this is a literacy celebration, the characters should come from a story that was a book first.

Please do not feel like you need to purchase a costume. A simple homemade costume is great!

Your child should bring a copy of the book the character appears in or a picture of the front cover of the book.

Each teacher will select one student to be interviewed as their character by Mrs. Langford & Mr. DiFilippo. In addition, each class will vote for their "Favorite Character" and "Most Original/Creative Character" (think creative use of materials.) That makes for a total of 3 prize winners per class, those students will get to choose a book from the Bookmobile!

You can help support the funding of this program, and wish your child a happy birthday on our school marquee at the same time. It's a win-win! For a $5 contribution, a Happy Birthday message along with your child's first name and last initial will be displayed on our marquee for three days during the week of your child's birthday. Summer birthday? Not a problem, We will display summer birthday messages during the last week of school and during their birthday week.
