What is going on?
We have scheduled a real cartographer to come and talk to the kids. He is requesting all students have a cutie or a clementine orange. Would anyone be willing to donate 21?
Thank you! (Thank you Mrs Gold!) Saved the day again!
We are still running low on glue sticks. If you can send some in, we would appreciate it.

Second Annual Aspiring Authors Writing Competition
The deadline is less than 8 weeks away. The theme for this year is “The Kid Who Stood Out". Who is this kid? Boy or girl? Why did he/she stand out? Let your students’ words fill their paper with a whole new world, new characters and a new special story to share with us. We cannot wait to see what they are going to come up with! To know more about the rules and how to participate, head to our website: www.ds-publishing.com/writing-competition

Hospital Boxes For Dell Children’s Hospital
Student Council will be collecting donations in order to create hospital boxes for children at Dell Children’s Hospital. Our goal is to lift the children’s spirits and give them some things to make them smile. Please take a look at our Amazon Wish List and consider purchasing an item that will be added to the boxes. The items will be shipped to Mrs. Macre at Sommer Elementary. We will be accepting donations until February 15th. We appreciate your support!

Valentine Box or Bag!!
Start working on your Valentine’s Day box. This is due in class no later than Wednesday February 13th. Bag/Box large enough to hold all cards & candy (think adult shoe box size or larger)
name is clearly displayed for all to see
hole/opening is large enough for items to be dropped inside
there is a way to get into the box to read cards
Begin valentines for classmates and bring in with your decorated box or bag!!
Our party will be held on Thursday, Feb. 14th. It will be low-key and classmates only. (No parents this time around!) I do ask that everyone wear red, white, pink or other valentine colors just because it looks awesome in the pics. .
