FAMILY MOVIE NIGHT
We can't live without family night movies. There were all the excellent snacks there. There was popcorn, jolly ranchers, and gushers. The snacks were so yummy. All the kids got one free snack.
We watched the Ice Age movie, part two. It was funny when the mammoth and the sloth and the tiger were in the icy slide. I thought that was weird when the king tiger hit the other tiger and then the tiger couldn't move. At the end, when they turned the baby, the tiger could move again. That was odd.
At the movie, you could bring anything that you wanted. You can bring a pillow or a blanket. It was so comfy. Family night movies are really splendid.

4th Grade at the School Forest - by Greta Centner
We walked into the building and the adults started talking to us and stuff. They said we would be learning about lumberjacks this year. One of the teachers was wearing a fake beard. After talking for a bit, like we do every year, we split up into groups. So Mrs. Zoch’s class went to do lumberjack games, and Mr. Hagedorn’s class went to make tree cookies. The lumberjack games were very fun, the first activity was like there was a shovel thing that lumberjacks used to pat down snow, but what we did instead was that one person would sit on the rubber part, and two people would pull. We had to get to the other side and touch the cone. Once we touched the cone, one of the pullers would swap places with the person who’s riding on the rubber part and go back. There were also three teams. The second game was where we had to pull a log with a rope all the way to the other side, go around the cone, and come back to their group, and all the group members would have to do this in order to win.
Then the last game was just log throwing. As you probably guessed we just had to throw a log and whichever group threw the log the furthest got the most points. One member from each group had to throw, then the next member, then the next. Julian, Declan, Allison, me, and Alexia won with the most points. Then we went back inside, talked a little more, then went on to the next part. My class, Mrs. Zoch’s class went for a short hike. We learned that if trees are planted too close to each other, they wouldn’t grow. My favorite part about the hike was when we saw an arching tree. Then we came to the same area as last year, and we saw little baby pine trees growing. So yeah otherwise there wasn’t anything else interesting to talk about.
After the hike we went back inside and went downstairs. We got to do a scavenger hunt and find certain animal statues.
Then we had lunch (we had pizza boats or whatever it's called.) Then lastly my class got to do tree cookies. I loved how every time a group cut a cookie they’d shout, “timber!”. When we were done cutting, we made our own little logos on the bottom of the tree cookie. Then we took nails and wrapped tape around the nails to make flags. On one flag, we wrote when the tree was born and put that nail in the middle of the tree. On the other nail flag, we wrote when we were born and put that nail on the year that we were born.
4th Grade visit to the School Forest - By Declan Moore
This year me and my class went to the school forest. But just saying that would be boring, so why not explode it!
It was January, I don’t remember the date, but I will remember the things we did that day, we went to the school forest. We played lumberjacks games, like who could throw a piece of wood the furthest, drag a log across half a field. We also learned about the lumberjacks and how they would cut trees down back then. We also made something called tree cookies. It took three people to make one tree cookie, and it wasn’t even a real cookie! There was a challenge at lumberjack games, it was who could get the most points. It was a hard challenge but me and my group managed to win. But most importantly we had fun. (Oh yeah we were told we would get prizes if we won but they pranked us and did not give us prizes.)
5th Grade Wit and Wisdom
The 5th graders at Lincoln have ended their Module 2 learning from Wit & Wisdom. We celebrated with the movie of The Phantom Tollbooth, which was a follow-up to our reading and studying author Norman Juster’s use of wordplay throughout the novel. Students brought in snacks, and played with their snack titles by using wordplay to describe the snack. What a fun way to celebrate our new thinking! Sweet Success!
2nd and 5th Grade Buddies
Our classroom buddy activity was great. It was a fifth grade class with a second grade class. We were reading books in my classroom. Luis was helping me read the words. Luis and I speak both Spanish but the book was in English.
After we read, we did emojis. The emojis were fun to make. We colored the emojis, too. The school buddy activity was too fast. I hope it happens again soon!
