Thank you so much for the Halloween Party!
Wow! That was the most amazing Halloween party I have ever seen! Thank you so much to all of you that helped out with the party. It was so well organized and the students had such a great time! A huge thank you to our amazing room mom, Brooke Trachsel and all the other parents that helped bake, decorate, plan games, and donate supplies!
It was also such a treat to see so many parents at the party. I know your kids loved having you there!
Time to send in October Reading Calendars!
Our class will be participating in the Pizza Hut's Book It reading program. Every child that turns in an October reading calendar will receive a free personal pan pizza. Next month, each student that reads at least 16 days per month will receive a coupon for a free pizza from Pizza Hut! Who doesn't love free stuff??? Keep up the great reading at home!
Coming Up Next Week...
Reading-Johnny Appleseed (a play) We will be focusing on fluency which is reading with emotion appropriate to what is happening the story, reading smoothly like you are talking, and reading at a rate that helps you to best comprehend the story (not too fast or not too slow). We will also be working on retelling a story by recounting events that took place in the beginning, middle and end of the story. To celebrate the wonderful job that we did with our fluency, we will be baking with apples on Friday!
Spelling-ear, eer (this is a tricky one so we will be working on these words every day in Daily 5)
Math-Topic 6-Mental Addition (double digit) This topic teaches addition strategies that students can use when adding 2 2-digit numbers in their heads. We will be focusing on counting up, making a ten then adding, breaking apart numbers, and using a hundreds chart to help us with 2-digit addition.
Writing/Science-We will be writing our scripts for our podcasts, practicing with our podcast partners and hopefully tape them at the end of the week. We are calling ourselves "Mustang Radio." Stay tuned for some very exciting information about birds!
Social Studies-This week we will be learning about natural resources and why it is important to conserve them.
Congratulations to our Students of the Week-Kendall Williams and Tanner Trachsel!
