Born on July 21, 1899. Raised in Oak Park, Illinois. He loved fishing and sports. He loved adventure. He was a journalist in Chicago. He was a reporter for the Kansas City Star. He was World War 1 ambulance driver. He proposed to a nurse. The Nurse left him for another man. He married Haley Richardson in 1927. Divorced Haley Richardson in 1927.He was awarded the Italian Silver Medal of Bravery. He won the Nobel Prize in 1954. He wrote The Sun Also Rises. He wrote Three Stories and Ten Poems in 1923. He wrote In Our Time in 1924. He also wrote The Torrents of Spring. Other major works include Death in the Afternoon, The Green Hills of Africa, and To Have and Have not. He was present at the Normandy Landings and the Liberation of Paris in 1921. He moved to Paris where he worked as an article writer for the Toronto Star. He committed suicide on July 2, 1961.
