Westmoor Update
~~~"A place where a student can dream, plan and achieve!"~~~
Week of April 26th
PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE
Westmoor Learning Community,
I attended a wonderful training about acceptance and belonging. The facilitator encouraged the attendees to write down things people know about us and write down things that people may not know, unless they spend time getting to know us. The activity was simple but profound in so many ways.
I was reminded that we all need to slow down just a bit and check in with each other. We typically ask, "How are you doing?" Let's all try slowing down a little bit and asking that simple question and then really taking a moment to listen. Humans need connections and this simple question could lead to another that begins the journey to getting acquainted.
Dream and Achieve,
Principal Grace Strickland
Finishing off the year strong:
As this year comes to an end, it kind of feels like we have been running a 24 mile marathon. I personally have never ran one but I would imagine that I would be feeling, "Aren't we done yet?" DO I have to finish this race?"
We are almost done, not quite but almost.
And yes we have committed to run in this race and we will finish it together.
Just remember to:
-Pace yourself.
-Look towards the finish line (which is summer).
-Find encouragement from others.
-Do a countdown of the days- we only have 25 days left of school...25 days- hooray!
May 1st- Intent to Register:
Seniors planning to attend CSU or UC must submit their Intent to Register by May 1st. Please be aware of this deadline. This is a hard and fast deadline- no exceptions will be made by the schools.
