AR Parent Letter
The Renaissance Place Accelerated Reading (AR) Prorgam is a big part of your child's reading experience in my class. Their personal goals are set each six weeks and are calculated based upon their individual reading levels and 15-20 minutes of reading each day for five days per week. This helps them become better readers, promotes reading level progress, and builds stamina which they will need by May in order to get through the Reading STAAR.
It is important that students are reading at home in order to meet their goals. Some students will require a little encouragement and motivation from their parents.
Your child can earn AR prizes when their goals are met each six weeks. In order to qualify for the rewards, your child must reach their points goal as well as maintain an 80% overall quiz average. Please see that your child understands that earning the reward is two-fold. (Occasionally a student doesn't remember that it requires meeting the points goal and maintaining an average of at least 80%, and it makes me sad to have to tell them they didn't make it when they thought they had.)
Thank you so much for helping your child succeed! I'm looking forward to a great year!
