Read Announcements Every Day!

I have had some questions this week from students that indicate to me that perhaps not everyone is checking the announcements in Canvas every day. Each day after logging into Canvas, you should click "Announcements" on the left hand side of the screen and read the announcement for the day. You will find that I will be celebrating students, directing you to due dates for the day and week, and also providing helpful tutorial resources for that day's assignments. See the screenshot below to get an idea of what you may be missing out on!

February 1st - This Week's Assignments and Deadlines

This week we will begin diving into our Physics portion of our course through beginning to understand the basic concepts of motion including speed, velocity and acceleration.


It is important that all you, the student, use the pacing guide that I provide each week to track your progress with your weekly assignments! All assignments for Module Two are due on Friday, February 5th at 5PM. Click below for the Module Two Pacing Guide.


Also, you will need to utilize the Physical Science Reference Table this week which provides essential formulas for our mathematical problems. Click here to download the Reference Table.

Motion in Physical Science Online Textbook

As we move through Modules Two and Three, you may find that you would like to have an textbook to read as a resource. Navigating through the Modules and Downloading Gizmo Student Exploration Worksheets

I have had several questions from students who are having a hard time figuring out how to navigate through the course. I also had some questions regarding how to download the Student Exploration Worksheets for your Gizmo assignments. Please view the video below walking you through how to do both of these things in Canvas.

What if I have Enabled Mixed Content by I still cannot view videos or content?

If you are having a difficult time viewing content in the course and you know that you have gone through the steps discussed in the Getting Started Unit for enabling mixed content, it may be that your plug-ins such as Java and Flash. Please use the below links to help you take care of this.

Read Aloud Feature in Canvas

Canvas has a feature that will allow for the text on the Canvas page that you may be viewing to be read aloud for you. If you find that it is helpful to hear the instructions for assignments or to have assessment questions read aloud for you to listen to, please view the below tutorial video that shows you how to utilize this tool!

I am a Nationally Board Certified Science Teacher with 9 years of teaching experience in North Carolina. I am an instructor for North Carolina Virtual Public Schools and teach students across multiple classes of Physical Science. I am also a wife to my husband of 11 years and a mother to 3 children ages 8, 5, and 4 as well as a foster mother.
