Lead with Literacy

WIN is rolling! I am now working my way through several books. One of the first things I do in the morning when I get to school is to think about what book and where I will do WIN at. I think it would be an AWESOME idea to invite some of our support staff to participate in WIN with us. I will work on creating invitations. :)
I am really focusing on Lead with Literacy and should be done with it by the conclusion of WIN on Friday. It gave me a great idea to do a "Classroom Crawl" so stay tuned for that fun activity the week of August 27th!
I am so inpsired by reading and by the knowledge a book gives me.
What book are you reading now? Are you ready for a new one? If so, come and see me!

Focus on......... Literacy (The •15)
Our #BeBCMS Moral Imperatives to an ELITE school are not changing. Do you remember them?
a. Come to School- BE AMAZING- Go Home! Repeat
b. Bell to Bell instruction
c. ALL instruction/teaching will be on grade level and standards based
d. Take a STAND for teaching and learning. Get up!
Focus On:
Literacy
We had great conversation and reflection during our first World Cafe. Out of those conversations, we agreed as a school Literacy at BCMS means:
- Reading
- Writing
- Speaking
- Critical Thinking (Reasoning)
Our first Learning with Liz: Pop UP PL will be Monday! I can't wait! This will be the first 20 minutes of your team meeting. Please plan on meeting in the data room! We will begin to focus on what our focus will be on a schoolhouse and we will work on developing one common theme and strategy to work on together!
To get a head start on what we will do: Think about the skills needed in each of the areas we defined as our definition to Literacy at BCMS.
Here is our lesson design template: (make a copy first) Get a jump on your planning for next school year! Our instructional framework is not changing!
Re: Lesson designs: Are your Openings/Bellringers connecting to your Learning Targets? If not, how can you make that connection. Feedback on lesson designs coming this week!
Our Lesson Design rubric is here.
