A Principal's Perspective
I don't know about you, but I am looking forward to a four day weekend! I am looking forward to relaxing, working in my yard, reading and being with my family.
This week I had a dilemma about balancing family and work responsibilities. A fork in the road if you will. My sister's father-in-law passed away unexpectedly on Aggie Ring Day. My nephew Cameron celebrated receiving his Aggie Ring that day. The visitation for his grandfather was at 5:00 in Humble this past Tuesday, faculty meeting day. I knew I could not make the funeral on Wednesday. On Tuesday, I went back and forth on the decision to go to Houston or leave early from the faculty meeting. In talking with my sister that afternoon, I could tell she needed me to be there for support. Support by just being present and available. So, once we got started on STAAR and the campus plan, I drove to Humble. If you know me, I am very stressed driving through rain. The weather was not good in Houston. All this to say is that we daily balance work responsibilities and being there for family. Family comes first especially during milestone celebrations or sad moments to say goodbye. So when taking the fork in the road on Tuesday of what to do, this quote below says it all. Thank you to the specialists, Kathe and Kathryn for taking care of GP business so I could be there for my sister.
I am thankful for my personal and school family where we take care of each other, support each other, and just plain be there for one another. Not to be taken for granted - for sure! Enjoy the weekend!
Be Innovative - Design the possibilities!
