Cell Phones
* Cell phones should be off during the school day, even at recess. Students may turn on their phones after school. Students should not text or receive texts during the school day.
* Please do not allow students to wear smart watches during the school day. Notifications are distracting. Also, calculators on the smart watches can be used inappropriately.
* Students are not to take photos or videos on school grounds with their cell phones, even after school. Remind your child that other families may not want pictures or videos of their child posted on social media.
* The minimum age for many apps such as Tick Tock, Snap Chat, Instagram, etc. is 14. Social media exposes young students to mature issues they are not emotionally ready to deal with. Discuss this with your child. Encourage them to wait until they are older to use these apps.
*Know the code to your child's phone. Monitor your child's cell phone daily. Check photos, videos and social media. Have open conversations, so you can guide and protect your child from being exposed to unwanted issues or from using technology inappropriately.
* Phones should never be taken into the restroom.
* Have a family charging station at night. Have a curfew for the phone to be placed in the charging station well before bedtime so students can settle down and sleep well.
