Reading Corps Member Sought for the 2014-15 School Year:
Great news! Crestview has been awarded a Minnesota Reading Corps tutor for 2014-15! The tutor plays a valuable role in our school helping to support K-3 students in literacy development. Any person hired will receive the appropriate training to best meet the needs of our students. This is an opportunity for you to guide students toward becoming successful readers by third grade. You’ll also see real results and make a lasting impact in our students’ lives, as well as in your own career. You’ll not only tutor students who need extra support; you’ll also make a meaningful connection with the school and our community.
Here's what you should know about our tutors:
Minnesota Reading and Math Corps tutors earn a bi-weekly living allowance. Tutors also earn an Education Award and may qualify for student loan interest repayment and student loan forbearance. It's a one year commitment, from August through July. A position with Reading Corps is an opportunity for professional development. Reading Corps is an AmeriCorps program (pronounced Ameri-Core). AmeriCorps is the domestic version of the Peace Corps.
Applicants should apply at www.MinnesotaReadingCorps.org
Please help us get the word out - Pass the word on to a friend or family member! Learn more and apply at www.MinnesotaReadingCorps.org. Strong preference is given to tutors who can start serving August 10, 2014. Send questions to recruitment@servemnaction.org or call 866-859-2825. You can also contact Mrs. Gamache if you have general questions as well!

ADHD Parent Support Group
The next meeting of the ADHD Parent Support Group is Monday, April 14 from 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. at Cottage Grove Middle School. "We will be discussing "ADHD and Friendship Building," with suggestions about how to help your child engage with other kids, help them practice social skills that are appropriate for their age, as well as help the parents remember to encourage the successes their children experience with each friendship encounter. Please plan to join us for a lively discussion with other supportive parents who have a vested interest in helping their child who struggles with ADHD find success in life. Kate Walsh Soucheray, licensed marriage and family therapist, will be teaching the content and leading the discussion." Thank you and we look forward to having you join us!
