The Wentzville School District Board of Education held a meeting on Thursday, Dec. 14, that was live-streamed via the WSD Board of Education YouTube channel and can be viewed by visiting YouTube. Literacy For All Resolution
The Board adopted a Literacy For All Resolution, with an adjusted approval date of Dec. 14, 2023.
Code of Conduct
Facilities Usage Policy (Second Reading)
The Board voted to postpone the vote on a Facilities Usage Policy to next month's regular meeting.
2022-23 Annual Independent Audit
A representative from Fick, Eggemeyer & Williamson, CPAs presented its third-party audit report for the 2022-23 fiscal year. The WSD received a clean audit of its financial records, accounting practices, and compliance with state and federal requirements during the fiscal year that ended June 30, 2023. The report came back with no recommendations.
The Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) requires that the Board of Education approve the 2023 audit report by Dec. 31, 2023, and the Board approved the report in this meeting.
Policy (First Reading)
Hester Menier, Stone Creek Elementary art teacher, was named the 2023 WSD Teacher of the Year.
“She has inspired staff members to develop their own creativity and skills in art that staff didn't believe they could accomplish,” said Mrs. Melissa Armbruster, Stone Creek principal. “Her vision for making Stone Creek a warm welcoming environment can be seen all over Stone Creek when walking through the building.”
Chief Financial Officer
The WSD Board of Education approved the hiring of Dr. Timothy Reller as chief financial officer, effective July 1, 2024. Dr. Reller brings over 25 years of experience in education to the District. He currently serves as the superintendent of schools in the Elsberry R-2 School District and has served in that role for more than a decade.
Retirement
The Board held a Literacy Workshop on Dec. 6. Topics of discussion included a "Then, Now and Future" reflection of literacy in the WSD; ELA Curriculum process and timeline; Assessment, Data, and Accountability; Reading Success Plans; Tiered Interventions; Leadership and Sustainability; and Support and Partnership in Literacy.
