Thank You!

Thank you all for another exciting and productive week! We appreciate the family support of our At Home Learning Day on Monday. Our faculty and staff were here learning and planning all kinds of great learning opportunities for the upcoming months.

As you know, it was also Pi Day on Monday, March 14th, and I love how Ms. Arianna asked her students to make a pie. They, of course, had the freedom to be creative and make one any way they preferred, such as out of playdough, or as a drawing.

From Ms. Arianna’s Class: Lukas’ Key Lime Pie!

Two Special Days

World Down Syndrome Day (WDSD) is an annual March 21st celebration and global awareness day officially observed by the United Nations since 2012. March 21 (3/21) was selected to signify the uniqueness of the triplication (trisomy) of the 21st chromosome which causes Down Syndrome. Have your child wear fun, colorful socks Monday to help raise awareness.

March 25th is National Cerebral Palsy Awareness Day. It was originally created in 2006 by Reaching for the Stars (RFTS), a cerebral palsy advocacy group, and is meant to educate, push for inclusion, and find a cure for cerebral palsy. We will have a special assembly for grades K-2, along with IAS K-1 and IAS 2-3 on Friday. Wear green!

SurveyWorks

SurveyWorks began on Tuesday, January 18th. It is important for all of us to participate by answering the SurveyWorks questions, because our answers provide meaningful feedback on how to improve Rhode Island Schools.

This is the family link bit.ly/ridefamily and it will ask you to choose our school from the drop down menu. Show us your proof of completion page either by a screenshot sent to caroline.crudale@npsd.k12.ri.us or photocopied page brought to school to be entered into a raffle to win a gift card to Market Basket.

Thank you so much Ms. Crudale for organizing and taking the lead on this!

Quote of the Week

"Success consists of going from failure to failure without loss of enthusiasm."

-Winston Churchill

Failure is hard to swallow. It’s easy to keep track of the times when we fail. It seems as though everyone is waiting for that moment for you to fail; it even seems like they are keeping track! The truth is, the only one keeping track of your failures is you. If you’re not failing every now and then, you’re probably not growing. Your failure could be from you taking a risk and stepping out of the box. Today you might be feeling like nothing is going right. You want to throw your hands up in the air and just give up. It’s time to change your mindset about failure. Embrace failure by treating it as a strategic opportunity to learn. Analyze what happened and create a new plan.
