Thank you to the Walter C. Black Elementary School student council members for making posters around the school and giving morning announcements on the loudspeaker last week for the staff coat drive!
Second-grade student leaders at Ethel McKnight Elementary School hosted a Pajama Day to raise money for the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia. Fun day for a great cause!
Grace N. Rogers Elementary School Winter Instrumental and Choral Concert
On Tuesday, January 17, and Wednesday, January 18, Grace N. Rogers Elementary School had their Winter Band, Orchestra, and Chorus Concert. 189 fourth and fifth grade band members, 66 fourth and fifth grade orchestra members, and 282 third through fifth grade chorus members graced the stage with their beautiful song selections. The students' excitement and energy was palpable throughout the auditorium. Hundreds of parents and loved ones enjoying the student-performer's hard work and dedication to their craft. Kudos to the students on a job well done and the music teachers who prepared them to make the GNR Winter Concerts a success.

We are so proud of the seventh-graders that participated in the Written Out Loud program!
Eighth-grade students who participated in the summer workshop for Written Out Loud received published copies of books they wrote. Several of these writers have participated in multiple sessions, and for some this is their third published book. Congratulations to the young authors!
Melvin H. Kreps Middle School student Srikar Kakarla is published in City Kidz World magazine: Winter 2023 edition.

Any student placing superior in their category is automatically eligible for the International Thespian Festival competition in June in Indiana.
The first Writer's Block Coffee House/Open Mic Night was a success!
Writer's Block is a club where students come together to formulate a variety of poems, short stories, and plays etc. get feedback from their peers.
NJMEA/NJACDA High School Choral Academy
On Saturday, January 14, NJMEA and NJ-ACDA partnered to offer the High School Choir Academy at Rutgers University. The goal of the choral academy was to empower students through a positive and meaningful ensemble experience. The event was hosted at Rutgers University’s Shindell Hall in New Brunswick, NJ.
The Hightstown High School students had an amazing day at their choral academies. Four high schools from Central and North Jersey were present: Chartertech High School for the Performing Arts, Montgomery Township High School, Arts High School, and Hightstown High School.
The clinician, Dr. Brandon Williams, reviewed all the major components of the regions and All-State Chorus audition. Thanks to the hard work of this fabulous clinician, our students were able to practice their audition scales, sight-read, and explore audition repertoire.

Parents/guardians that do not have access to a computer or the internet can schedule an appointment to register online in the office by calling Central Registration at 609-443-2881 ext. 6800.
If applicable, a Language test will be conducted by appointment on a later date.
This week our Hightstown High School Athletic Leaders met with RISE from downtown Hightstown to explore some volunteer opportunities in our community for this school year.
EWRSD Homework Free Holidays for 2022-23
In an effort to provide a sense of balance and to promote time spent with family, EWRSD students will not receive homework assignments or long-term projects that are due when they return to school after the breaks listed below. In addition, tests and quizzes will not be administered on the first day of school following the break.
- Spring Break: Wednesday, April 5, 2023, through Monday, April 17, 2023
