Central Middle School
Another Great Week!
In math next week:
Mrs. Turnbow's math classes will work on Relating Ratios to Rates, Unit Rates and Conversions next week!
In Pre-Algebra we will start working on a chapter from the book. This will cover several things including the percent equation, probability, similar figures and scale drawings, markup, discount, and percent of change. We will move swiftly through this chapter!
In Science and Social Studies:
Science: Hello Tigers! For the week of January 29-February 2nd:
Monday- Students receive a handout that they will complete on the functions and features of microscopes.
Tuesday-Chapter 5-2 lesson over Prokaryotes and Eukaryotes
Wednesday- Using a microslide viewer to see prokaryotes, eukaryotes, and sample microscope views.
Thursday- Chapter 5-2 lesson over Cell Structure.
Friday- I will be gone today with a group from Central to OMLEA. I'm so excited! I will leave the most recent edition of the marvelous Science World magazine and will assign 2 articles to read and complete comprehension questions.
Microscope Test- This will be moved forward to the following week. I'm looking at February 6th or 8th.
Social Studies: Mrs. Anderson's social studies classes just finished the N.E. Region of the United States and we are heading South! We began the Southern Region map on Thursday and will have a quiz over this region on Wednesday, January 31st. We will begin the Midwest Region on Friday because 6th graders are scheduled to see the Talent show on Thursday February 1st and I want all classes to begin this region together. Thanks!!
English:
In Mrs. Frank's English classes we will be reading a variety of folk tales, as well as, taking a test over quotation marks.
