TUESDAY'S NEWSDAY
October 13, 2020 - Issue 6
From Principal Hammond
We hope you had a wonderful fall weekend. This Wednesday we will have a 12:50 dismissal for grades K-4 in order for teachers to continue their professional development. Thank you for supporting this important work as we continuously improve teaching and learning.
We welcome Mrs. Jennifer Connolly as our new school nurse! She has been working in ER9 this year so therefore knows the transitions that we have been through. We are so lucky to have her on our team.
In partnership,
Natalie Hammond

Important Reminders
Arrival & Dismissal
Parents/Guardians who are dropping off students in the morning, or picking up students in the afternoon are asked to remain in their vehicles during this process. We will have staff on hand ready to support during these transition times. If you are dropping off your child in the morning please be sure their mask is on and backpack is ready BEFORE you pull up to the drop off location, so that we can quickly and safely transition kids out of vehicles and into the building.
RES Visitors
Due to the current health and safety precautions in place, we are limiting visitors in our building to essential business only. If you need to come to the school to pick up your child, please be sure you have a government issued ID on you for entry each and every time. Even if we recognize you, we will ask for your ID. This is our policy.
Traffic Safety
Please be reminded to follow all traffic rules while driving in our parking lots and around RES, including stopping at stop signs and adhering to the speed limit. Cars may not travel into the bus loop during arrival and dismissal.School Dismissal Manager
If there are changes to your child's dismissal plans, remember to log in to School Dismissal Manager to update with the new plans. A reminder that 'bus' is the default for all students. Distribution of a student pick up number tag, or the data from the summer survey does not automatically inform us that your child is a pick up.

LIFETOUCH PICTURE DAY
Lifetouch will be at Redding Elementary School for student photos on Tuesday, October 13th. Click here for the Lifetouch information/ order form: Picture Day Form 2020
All 2nd, 3rd and 4th grade photos will take place on Tuesday, October 13.
Cohort C (distance learning) student photos will be taken on Tuesday at the following times: Bbetween 12-12:40 and again between 1:10-2:00 pm. You do not need to come on the day that your child's grade level photos are taken. We are asking cohort C students to arrive in the first half of their time slot if their last name begins with letters A-K and the second half of the time slot for last names beginning with L-Z. Students will be allowed to enter directly through the big gym doors (the photos will be taking place inside the big gym) and parents will be asked to remain outside. Officer Parisi will be present to allow students to come and go through these doors during these specific times only. Please be prompt as our schedule for picture day is quite tight. If you are unable to have your child attend during these designated times, there will be a photo retake day at a later date.
MESSAGE FROM OUR SCHOOL NURSE
WELCOME NURSE JENNIFER CONNOLLY. You can reach her at 203 938-2519 Ex. 309 or by email at: jconnolly@er9.org
REMINDERS FROM THE HEALTH OFFICE
Bandanas and gaiters are no longer considered an acceptable form of a face covering in the tri district. Please make sure you are sending your child to school with a mask that fits appropriately to avoid excessive touching and readjusting of the mask. An extra mask should be sent as well in case the mask breaks or gets soiled.
If you keep your child home on a school day, please make sure you are filling out School Dismissal Manager. Be as specific as you can (temperature, sore throat, headache, etc.) versus “sick” or “illness”. In addition, it is imperative that you are following the Daily Home Screening for Students, including daily temperature checks before school. If your child is exhibiting any of the symptoms listed in section 1, please follow the steps accordingly. Documentation MUST be received by the nurse before a student can return to in person learning.
If your child requires emergency medications in school, please make sure you are sending them in, along with the Authorization for Administration. The medications must be dropped off at the office by an adult and cannot be brought it by the student.
Please make sure you have filled out the required information in PowerSchool which includes but is not limited to: OTC medications, insurance, and emergency contact information. The OTC medications tab allows you to decide whether or not you want your child to receive Tylenol, Motrin, and/or Benadryl in school if needed. The insurance tab is just a “yes” or “no” on if your child has insurance. The insurance data is required information by the state.
If you have any questions, I can be reached at 203-938-2519 X309.
Thank you, Jennifer Connolly, School Nurse RES
