Dear St. John’s Lane Elementary School Families,
I hope you are enjoying a wonderful summer and are relaxed, recharged and just about ready to start a new school year. I am so delighted that you are part of our amazing learning community. I welcome and value your positive energy and dedication to excellence in education, and I look forward to working with you and your children this year.
We are indeed an enthusiastic and caring community with the common goals of excellence in learning, leadership and character. It remains an honor and privilege to serve as your principal and I eagerly look forward to greeting students and families at our New Family Orientation, Open House and on Opening Day! Please stop by and say hello. Together, I know we will make this school year one of growth and success for all children!

- 30 - Kindergarten Parent Information Night - 6:15p.m. – cafeteria (adults only)
- 31 - New Family Orientation - 1:30 p.m. - 2:00p.m., 1st -5th only– cafeteria
- 31 - Open House - 2:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. ALL Grades. Students may bring their school supplies to the classroom. Open House ends promptly at 3:00pm

Homeroom Teacher
Families with an updated/verified and completed Family File will able to view their child's homeroom assignment on August 29, 2018. If the Family File is not completed/updated, then parents can learn the homeroom teacher at school during Open House from a designated staff member.
First Day of School
Tuesday, September 4th. Doors open at 8:35am. Daily Schedule begins @ 8:45am. Students must be on-time starting day one. Please be sure your child knows how he/she will arrive and depart from school. It is always best for each student to begin using their every-day transportation method from the very first day of school!
School Hours:
8:35am – Bell rings and students may enter the building
8:45am – Bell rings and instructional day begins - students arriving after this time are recorded as tardy & must be signed in by a parent when they arrive in the front office.
3:15pm – Dismissal

School bus routes for the coming school year will be available in mid-August on the HCPSS website, here, and then updated regularly.
Student Supply Lists for each grade can be found on our website, here. Students may bring their school supplies to the classroom during Open House on Aug.30th.

SJLES PTA
As you think about the coming school year, remember that the SJLES PTA needs you! Many additional programs and events, such as cultural arts and family fun events, are not funded by the school system and are provided to our students and their families through the efforts of our PTA. Please support our school by joining the PTA and responding when volunteers are requested for these outstanding programs and activities, and by participating in our fundraisers throughout the year. Parents and guardians of currently enrolled HCPSS students automatically receive HCPSS News emails from the district and their child’s school, based on contact information submitted through the Family File last school year.
