Kindergarten Preview '21
Kindergarten Preview will be in March, 2021! We want to be sure that we have every student’s name in order for materials to be sent prior to that date. If you have a child who will be five (5) years old ON OR BEFORE SEPTEMBER 1, 2021 or if you have a neighbor with a child who will be five (5) years old on or before September 1, 2021, please call the Elmwood School Office 630-420-6341. Also, if you have a child attending another Kindergarten program who will be starting First Grade at Elmwood in Fall 2021, please notify us as soon as possible. This information is vital for our planning.
Kane County Cougars Reading Club
Dear Elmwood families:
Our school will once again be participating in the Cougars Reading Club, a reading incentive program sponsored by the Kane County Cougars baseball team. Your child will have the opportunity to improve his or her reading skills while earning a ticket to a Cougar game, a Cougars drawstring bag, a free hot dog and drink to enjoy during the game.
WHEN: 8 weeks: 1/18 - 3/5
HOW: Your child needs to read 1 HOUR PER WEEK.
RECORD PROGRESS: Click here for a form you can use to track reading.
REPORT READING: At the end of 8 weeks (March 5th) please use this Google Form to report your student's reading. There is no need to send any paperwork into school.
REWARD: Students who have read and reported their reading hours will receive a free ticket to a Kane County Cougars baseball game (note: dates still TBD as they don't have a schedule for 2021 yet.). Students will also receive a drawstring bag, hot dog, and drink at that game.

Hearts for Seniors: SFCP with Inside Out Club
Together with Inside Out Club, we are sharing our hearts with seniors in a schoolwide service project to benefit seniors served by Meals on Wheels! Meals on Wheels has seen an over 40% increase in the number of seniors needing meals, and we are collecting nonperishable items to help with this increased need. Examples of items to donate:
Tea bags
Hand lotion
Nut-free Granola bars
Chapstick
Tissues
Bins will be outside Elmwood Door 1 beginning on Monday, January 11th!
We are also encouraging students in Grades K - 2 to decorate a lunch bag, and students in Grades 3 - 5 to decorate a door hanger for seniors to hang on their doors this Valentine’s Day. Kits will be outside beginning on Monday and ready to be picked up and completed! Check out the flyer here, visit www.insideoutclub.org, and email elmwoodsfcp@gmail.com with any questions!
