Book Returns
Now that we are close to the halfway point of the school year, many students have a long list of books checked out from the Library. This is a great time to clean out borrowed books and start a new month with a clean library account! Please help your child remember to return any books that they have borrowed and finished reading so they can circulate back into the Library collection for others to enjoy. Students have a scheduled weekly Library class, but can return their Library books any day of the week. The typical borrowing period for a book is two weeks. I will be sending notices home this week if a student has numerous books that need to be returned. If you ever want a list of your child's borrowed books, don't hesitate to email Ms. Golas.
Have you seen the improved library space?
One of my most important goals for the Library has been to make browsing easier and more visual for students. Pre-Readers and Early Readers in particular benefit from being able to view book covers to aid in book selection and circulation. Before winter break, I added new shelving that not only offers visual book browsing, but also adds considerable book capacity. With the help of my fabulous parent volunteers, we shifted and spaced out the picture book collection to make books more accessible and enticing to students. Earlier this Fall, we also replaced the tables in the lower area of the library for added flexibility. The new shelving and tables are on wheels to allow us to rearrange the space to fit our community's needs or host special events.
I have included pictures of our new and improved lower library area. Please visit for yourself the next time you are in the building!
