I want to take a moment to highlight the Seattle Public Schools Strategic Plan Priorities:
- High Quality Instruction and Learning Experiences
- Predictable and Consistent Operational Systems
- Culturally Responsive Workforce
- Inclusive and Authentic Community Engagement
This week, I had the opportunity to work with our the design and architecture firm DLR group, and the builder Lydig Construction. As we collaborated, it became clear to me that the when we work to implement the priorities we are participating in a High Quality Instruction and Learning Experience. DLR group will be providing a high quality learning experience during Field Day, where they will show the work we've accomplished this year. I am proud to be part of Seattle Public School as they are dedicated to continuous learning.
One specific thing I learned about this week was the Student and Community Workforce Agreement SCWA. Through this agreement, Seattle Public Schools prioritizes securing work on new buildings including the new build at 4030 NE 109th St from, people of color, women, Seattle Public Schools students and their families, people living in economically distressed areas and union workers.
This is all to say that in addition to the High Quality Instruction and Learning we participate in every day, SPS is leveraging it's size to be a force for racial equity.
I'd also like to highlight some of the anti-racist work JRE is doing around community engagement.
Thanks for all community members who engaged in the transportation survey, either through completing the form online, or speaking with a staff member about your thoughts which were then captures in the survey. This information was then forwarded to central office and likely contributed to keeping current bell times for the 22/23 school year.
Finally, if you're interested in serving on the Building Leadership Team for the 22/23 school year, please let me know. Commitment is meeting once a month, with several meetings in late February to late March during budgeting season.

Kenji López-Alt, A Sari for Ami by Mamta Nainy, and Eyes That Kiss in the Corners by Joanna Ho

Message from Jane Addams Middle School PTSA board
Jane Addams Middle School PTSA nominating committee (https://jamsptsa.org/about/) is looking to fill various open board and committee positions for the upcoming 2022/2023 school year. We strongly encourage consideration of not only our incoming 6th grade families but also from those currently attending JAMS.
The JAMS PTSA board is committed to reflecting the diversity represented in our school community. (See our diversity statement here) We value the representation of our BIPOC, English language learners, and LGBTQIA+ community members. As a PTSA we are committed to inclusivity and making accommodations, so that it is easier for families to make this commitment. As such, we offer remote participation options, interpreters, translated materials, and onsite childcare. We will also consider structuring positions as co-chairs.
Please contact Sanjay Mishra (firstname.lastname@example.org) and also an OHE parent for more information.
