A Note from our Principal
Greetings, WPA Families,
Cold and Flu...and Covid Season
Attendance is an influential factor that impacts a child's learning. As early as Kindergarten, missing school can have long-term effects on a child's education. A lot of research supports the goal for students to miss less than ten days per school year or less than one day per month. You can access your student's attendance through Aspire or contact the front office for additional details.
RISE & CogAT Testing-
Our Fall testing window for RISE and CogAT assessments is starting this week. RISE assessments are a statewide program to help schools ensure students perform on grade level. CogAT is an assessment for identifying Gifted students. If you have questions about these or other assessments, don't hesitate to get in touch with Mrs. Pilkington.
Thanksgiving Break -
We will not have school Monday, November 21st - Friday, November 25th in a combination of teacher training and the thanksgiving holidays. Enjoy the extra time with your families.
Cold and Flu...and Covid Season
As we enter the cold and flu season, we have had more questions about how this impacts school. We ask that students with a fever, vomiting, significant coughing, etc., please stay home, rest, and return to us feeling better. We ask parents to use their best judgment regarding stuffy noses, light couching, etc. If your student or others in your home test positive for Covid, please utilize the tools on the Davis County Health Department website for information specific to your family's situation.

ART - Thanksgiving Food Drive
Thanksgiving Food Drive
Hi Parents,
This week in art we are learning about the American tradition of the Turkey Pardon! As such, each art class is contributing their artistic designs to turkey feathers. These feathers are then attached to each Homeroom’s very own 2D turkey. Friday, November 18th Principal Pilkington will announce the pardoning of two of these turkeys—a school wide announcement.
To help your homeroom’s turkey be pardoned, we ask for food donations on behalf of the Bountiful Food Pantry. This week (November 14th-18th) we will be collecting food donations each morning in the office. There is no obligation to donate but any of the following items are deeply appreciated and help to reduce food insecurity.
Thanks, Mr. Mike –Art Department
