Big picture

February Recess

Please complete the Family Travel Survey for February break no later than February 17. We realize this is a quick turnaround; however, the survey will take approximately 30 seconds. Thank you!

Breakfast Meal Bags for February Break

Once again we will be offering a breakfast meal bag to go home with students over February break; this is part of the USDA free meal program that all families are currently accessing while we are in session. The bag will consist of 5 days' worth of breakfast food items, such as: milk, juice, fruit, cereal, yogurt, string cheese, parfait, and quick bread for each student. You must sign up through FACTS by 2/17 for breakfast, selecting the dates 2/22-2/26. The breakfast bags will be labeled with your family ID number and ready for pick up at dismissal on Thursday 2/18. If your child is attending ASP that day, you can grab your breakfast bag (look for your family ID number) outside of the school's main entrance.

Families who require meals while learning remotely due to COVID, please email Heather Gentle directly at Heather Gentle for information.

It's Not Too Late!

The State of Vermont has just been approved to issue Pandemic Electronic Benefit Transfer (P-EBT) cards for September 2020-June 2021. P-EBT cards are funds that households may use to purchase food items at stores, should a child miss school for COVID-related reasons. To be eligible for these benefits, you must be a participant in the Free and Reduced Meals Program (this is different from the USDA grant offering free meals for all students this year). There is still time to apply for the Free and Reduced Meals Program! Please email Laurie Marcoux for an application.

Water = Ice = Skating Rink

Does anyone have a direct and reliable connection to one of the local fire departments? We need water for our ice rink! Please contact Coach Bu if you can help us out!

Lent Begins on Wednesday, February 17

We will offer ashes to students after our virtual Mass on Wednesday. Father Schnobrich and Mrs. Wilson will visit classrooms to distribute the ashes to all students who are comfortable receiving them.

Lenten Guidelines

Ash Wednesday and Good Friday are obligatory days of fasting and abstinence (no meat) for Catholics. In addition, Fridays during Lent are obligatory days of abstinence (no meat).

For members of the Latin Catholic Church, the norms on fasting are obligatory from age 18 until age 59. When fasting, a person is permitted to eat one full meal, as well as two smaller meals that together are not equal to a full meal. The norms concerning abstinence from meat are binding upon members of the Latin Catholic Church from age 14 onwards. Members of the Eastern Catholic Churches are to observe the particular law of their own sui iuris Church.

If possible, the fast on Good Friday is continued until the Easter Vigil (on Holy Saturday night) as the "paschal fast" to honor the suffering and death of the Lord Jesus and to prepare ourselves to share more fully and to celebrate more readily his Resurrection.
