Pablo Picasso
Famous Ceramists and Painter
About
Pablo Picasso, born in Spain in 1881 is considered to be one of the most important painters of the 20th century and one of the most important founders of Cubism and Modern Art. Pablo Picasso loved painting on any type of ceramic art, such as terra cotta plates, animal or human ceramic figures and even tiles. Picasso’s cubism influences can be clearly seen in his pottery. Pablo later started to create clay pieces and found that making ceramics to be very relaxing and calming.
One of my favorite quotes of his is "Art is a lie that makes us realize the truth."
Picasso uses different shapes to represent his art such as he really enjoys painting human figures and animals on his pottery. What I really take into appreciation about his art is that it is abstract and the shapes and colors that he incorporates are visionary and simplistic. I think that he focuses on form more than function because I see the different shapes he creates of the vases that suit the object that will be painted on the potter

Famous Pieces
Some of his most famous ceramic works are: Corrida, a plate with a bold white background which is meant to created a deep contrast with the deep black representation of this typical Spanish show involving a bull and the famous matador. Quatre Profils Enlaces, which represents a face .The background is white and the representation is definitely from the Cubism influences.
