Panther Post
Nov. 5th - Nov. 10th
Hello Lopez Families,
All of our footballs teams did really well this season. Our 8th grade football team capped off an undefeated season, winning the district championship in impressive form. I am so proud of our kids and our coaches for all the hard work they put in to become the best around. They played with a grit and character that represents our community well. This group of boys also set a Lopez record by going undefeated two years in a row. Thank you and congratulations! (see picture below)
Our volleyball teams also wrapped up their season with success. They had a great year and our 7th grade girls won the district tournament at the end. Way to go girls!
As those seasons wrap up, please take a look below about basketball tryouts.
I was able to see our orchestra play Monday night and they sounded amazing, especially for this time of year. I can't wait to hear them again.
Our Panther Pride award winners from the first nine weeks are in the second picture. These are students whom the teachers picked as demonstrating one or more of our Panther Pride characteristics. The Panther Pride characteristics are service, academic excellence, character or sportsmanship, leadership and citizenship. Thank you students and your parents for making Lopez a better place.
Sincerely,
Mr. Wernli

LEAD CONNECTION
Great opportunity to talk about our Lopez Middle School Wildly Important Goals (WIGS) in terms of WIn-WIn. Define Win-Win. Cambridge dictionary states Win-Win -A win-win situation or result is one that is good for everyone who is involved:
Look at our Lopez Goals :
Goal #1: Lopez Panthers will strive to increase participation in campus clubs.
Goal #2: We will increase the student and staff participation in school spirit on spirit days and school events.
Goal #3: Lopez Panthers will increase the number of service hours completed by students from 10,000 in the 2017-2018 school year to 12,000.
How is this a win-win for the Lopez Students- Discuss with your child how they can adding to one of our Lopez goals.
Goal #1- Students find a place to belong on the Lopez Campus.
Goal # 2- Gain a sense of Pride in the school you attend and value being a part of the family.
Goal #3 - Serving others is a gift we can afford. Volunteering our time is a resource we have and learning the skill of serving others can be beneficial for the giver and those that receive.
Lopez Goals are based on the belief that belonging is very important for teens mental health and wellbeing. Teens who feel that they belong at school are happier, more relaxed and have fewer behavioral problems than other students. They are also more motivated to learn and be more successful with their school work.
Please help your child record their hours of service( Any type of service that they did not get paid to do) from the end of last school year to the 1st 9 weeks of school. Students will be turning in hours of service to their Flex/Lead teacher each 9 weeks. A simple number is sufficient.
