Endangered Species of N.C.

Carolina northern flying squirrel

Info

Glaucomys sabrinus, also known as the Carolina northern flying squirrel, is one of the many endangered species of North Carolina. This species of squirrel is found in western North Carolina in the Appalachian Mountains. Suburban build up and the human destruction of their habitat is threatening the existence of this unique breed. Wildlife sanctuaries and state parks are put in place to give them and many other animals a place free of human disturbance where they can hopefully build their species back up.
